Dr. Christos Karapapas

Adjunct Faculty

Dr. Christos Karapapas is an Adjunct Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science at UNIC Athens, teaching courses in mathematics and logic.

He grew up in Oropos Attica and went to school at the Model High School of Anavryta. He studied mathematics at the University of Athens (B.Sc., 2013), and continued his path in computer science at the Athens University of Economics and Business (AUEB), where he completed an M.Sc. in Information Systems (2016) and a Ph.D. in Computer Science (2025). His doctoral work centered on security and privacy challenges in Web3, decentralized storage, and decentralized apps. Alongside his studies, he spent several years at AUEB teaching undergraduate recitations and grading for courses in Discrete Mathematics and Probability.

His main research interests are computer systems security, cryptography, blockchains, and malware analysis. Over the years, he has worked on EU-funded research projects, as well as industry projects. He has published his work in conferences such as IEEE ICBC, IFIP SEC, and IFIP Networking, with over 190 citations to date (h-index: 6). He also regularly serves as a Technical Program Committee (TPC) member for international conferences in the blockchain space and reviews papers for systems and security journals.
