Delegation of sports officials from Israel visit UNIC as part of ongoing collaboration
Twenty sports officials had the chance to attend presentations, visit UNIC sports science labs, and go on site to sports venues
A delegation of 20 sports officials/coaches visited the University of Nicosia from the Academic College at Wingate, to take part in an intensive four-day education and field visit programme focused on fitness, performance, injuries, ethics and laboratory assessments by lecturers of the Sports Science programme of the University.
The visit took place within the framework of UNIC’s 2018-2019 Israeli training programme, itself part of an ongoing exchange and the result of enhanced relations in Israel in the areas of higher education, local government and tourism.
Despo Stylianou, Events Manager at UNIC, who coordinates the exchange programmes with Israel, stated that: “The University of Nicosia and a number of institutions from Israel have been collaborating successfully over the years to implement such programs and conferences, and will continue to grow and strengthen their cooperation. Students and professionals from Israel speak highly of the educational visits, the organisation and the high quality of services offered”.
The next meeting under this initiative will take place in autumn, where a group of Mayors and local government officials will attend a training programme at UNIC. At the same time, preparations are underway for the large-scale conference on Sports Tourism, which is yet another of UNIC’s collaborations with local government in Israel.
After welcoming the delegation on campus, the President of the Council, Professor Nicos Kartakoullis, reflected on the mutually beneficial and constructive collaboration with Israeli actors over the years, sharing that UNIC is now exploring how best to expand these partnerships with said actors in the near future.
