Gnosis and School of Veterinary Medicine – VITAL Transnational Partner Meeting in Portugal
On 22 September 2026, the University of Nicosia participated in the second in-person partner meeting of project VITAL, hosted by The University of Trás-os-Montes e Alto Douro (UTAD), in Vila-Real Portugal. The meeting brought together all project partners to discuss the project’s progress, stakeholder engagement strategy, and an overview of all active Work Packages. The meeting was followed by a two-day workshop (23-24 September) on skills gaps and future skills in the livestock sector, aiming to validate and refine the project’s Livestock Skills Strategy and agree on priority future skills under the four pillars of the VITAL project:
- Digitalization and Artificial Intelligence
- Green Skills and Sustainability
- Health and Risk Management
- Animal Welfare and Ethics
Activities – Cyprus National Ecosystem
VITAL (Vocational Innovation and Training for Animal Livestock) is an EU-funded Alliance of Innovation aiming to develop and implement a Blueprint for sector-wide skills strategy for European livestock farming. To achieve this, the University of Nicosia, supported by the Larnaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), coordinates the national ecosystem in Cyprus, through a collaboration between Gnosis Mediterranean Institute for Management Science and the School of Veterinary Medicine.
The National Ecosystem:
- connects stakeholders across the sector, linking education, research, and livestock,
- translates sector needs into training solutions,
- promotes digital and sustainable skills.
Join the Vital Cyprus Ecosystem to:
- access innovative training materials, MOOCs, and digital tools, as they are being developed;
- interact with a European network of experts and contribute to shaping future livestock, education and policies;
- improve your organisation’s skills, competitiveness, and sustainability;
- participate in surveys and focus groups;
- share sector challenges and needs;
- engage in pilot activities, testing, and validation phases of VITAL training content and tools;
- contribute to the development of an EU sector-wide Skills Strategy for European Livestock Farming.
