Professor Dimitris DrikakisProf Dimitris Drikakis
Vice President for Global Partnerships and Executive Director, Research and Innovation Office

Professor Dimitris Drikakis is the Vice President for Global Partnerships, Executive Director, Research, and Innovation, and has a joint Professor appointment in the School Sciences and Engineering and Medical School. Prior to UNIC, he held academic and executive posts as Professor of Engineering Science & Executive Dean (Engineering) at the University of Strathclyde (Glasgow), and Head of Aerospace Sciences at Cranfield University, Professor at Queen Mary, University of London, amongst other positions in the UK, Germany and France. His research is multidisciplinary and covers topics of emerging technologies and engineering science. He has received the William Penney Fellowship Award by the UK’s Atomic Establishment and the Innovator of the Year Award (2014) by the UK’s Innovation Institute. He has co-authored two books and has published 430 papers in journals and conference proceedings. He has graduated 45 PhD students. He has also been an Assoc. Editor and serves on editorial boards in several journals in the fields of Engineering (Aerospace, Biomedical, Energy, Computing), Computational Science, Applied Physics, and Nanotechnology. He has also served on the Fluid Dynamics Technical Committee of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics; Board of Directors of the European Aeronautics Science Network; European Research Council (Engineering – Deputy Chair); amongst other positions.
