Abstract

There are many ways to organize political and economic structures in a country.  In this discussion, we underline the differences between the EU and US in terms of their political economies.  What we find is that while there are substantial similarities in terms of some aspects of economic organization and structure, the US reflects more strongly the impact of liberal economic thinking.  We discuss the implications and impacts of such a prevailing ideology of political economy, including discussions of inequalities in the population, the extent of privatization of economies, and perceptions of pragmatic policies to deal with major economic, political, and social issues.
