The Department of Politics and Governance of the University of Nicosia, in cooperation with the Diplomatic Academy and the Cyprus Center for European and International Affairs of the University of Nicosia would like to invite you to the research seminar titled “The Choreography of Cross-Cultural Negotiations – An Amusing and Sad Israeli-Palestinian Example?” by Professor Doron Pely (University of Southern California), chaired by Constantinos Adamides.

Abstract

A brief introduction to cross-cultural negotiations in Musli/Arab-Western context. The lecture is followed by a presentation and analysis of a short video depicting an encounter between Ehud Barak and Yasser Arafat in Camp David in the summer of 2000. The analysis examines the situation through the prism of Muslim/Arab and Western negotiation conventions.
