The Department of Computer Science at the University of Nicosia is hosting an online info session titled “Artificial Intelligence in Health: Challenges and Opportunities” on Tuesday, 15 July 2025 between 18:30-19:30 EEST.
This event, organised by the Data Science (MSc, 3 Semesters) – E-Learning/Distance Learning (Online) programme, offers a unique opportunity to explore current applications of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning in the field of healthcare. The online info session addresses the potential of deep learning algorithms and large language models in driving new technologies that lead to innovative practices, treatments, and drug development.
The presentation will delve into three recent research examples from our research group. The first example involves a European research project aimed at addressing and preventing neurological disorders such as Stroke, Parkinson’s Disease, and Multiple Sclerosis. The second focuses on the detection of adverse drug reactions by leveraging data from social media. Finally, the third will provide a brief overview of artificial intelligence algorithms applied to multimodal neuroimaging, where integrating data from MRI, PET, EEG, and other imaging methods enables more accurate diagnoses and deeper understanding of neurodegenerative and psychiatric conditions.
A moderated Q&A session will follow the presentation, providing attendees with the chance to engage directly with the speaker and ask questions.
Certificates of Attendance will be offered to the participants.
