Free Online Info Session | Equal Rights for All? The Rights of Children with Disabilities in Educational Practice

Dr Kyriakos Demetriou
Lecturer, Special and Inclusive Education

Today, a number of international conventions protecting children’s rights are in place. However, the rights of children with severe disabilities are often at risk. In this online info session, we discuss key issues about the rights of children with disabilities in educational practice with emphasis on practical examples that promote spontaneous communication (e.g. opportunities to express needs and wants) and self-determination skills (e.g. making choices, problem solving etc.) for children with complex learning and communication impairments in inclusive settings.
