The Department of Design and Multimedia of the University of Nicosia organises the “Artist Book Competition”.

An Artist Book is a means of expression utilized by artists with a wide range of backgrounds in fine and applied arts. The aim of the competition is to familiarize participants with the artist book technique as a distinctive and unique art form through which they can experiment and create unique art pieces. The deadline for the submission of the Artist Books is Monday, 1 July 2019.

Participants are invited to create an original book or a digital artwork by using any technique they think suitable for the subject/theme they will choose to work on.

For the final Artist Βook, participants can use one single or multiple techniques, such as painting, sculpture, photography, etching, calligraphy or experimental typography. They may also combine text with sound and image. The final outcome can be either printed (conventional book, photographs) or digital (video, animation, collection of digital photographs etc.).

Following the competition’s deadline, participants will be entitled to scholarship awards for any of the Undergraduate Programmes of Study offered by the Department of Design and Multimedia (BA in Fine Art, BA in Graphic Communication, BA in Applied Multimedia). The Department of Design and Multimedia will also select and exhibit the best artworks submitted at a location which will be announced at a later date.

Scholarship Awards:

• 1^st award: Scholarship, covering 75% of tuition fees for the first year of studies.
• 2^nd award: Scholarship, covering 50% of tuition fees for the first year of studies.
• 3^rd award: Scholarship, covering 25% of tuition fees for the first year of studies.
