As part of the organization of the 2nd e2steam Cyprus Festival, the Department of Admissions and the Department of Engineering of the University of Nicosia, with the support of the Directorate of Secondary General Education, are organizing a day on the topic “Design your own electronic eyes with Arduino: Creating an innovation that can facilitate the visually impaired”, which will take place on Saturday, April 29, 2023, between 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the premises of the University of Nicosia.

The action is aimed at students of public and private high schools as well as technical schools who have chosen the science major, and it will be offered in Greek and English. This activity aims to give students the opportunity to get to know the wonderful world of STEAM and specifically the Department of Engineering at the University of Nicosia, to work as Electrical and Computer Engineers and to understand the importance of science in technology. At the same time, students will be inspired by the application of these disciplines in everyday life, addressing modern challenges and improving the quality of life for people with disabilities.

In particular, the students will become creators of an innovation that can facilitate people with reduced vision. During the activity, students will design electronic circuits which they will program with ARDUINO. They will work in teams and research, create, present and evaluate their and other teams’ work.
