Plurilingual Futures: Voices, Practices, and Reimagining Europe
NEOLAiA, the Alliance of European Universities, invites researchers, educators, and students to take part in its second international conference exploring how multilingual voices and practices are reshaping the way we tell stories, produce knowledge, and understand Europe today. Jointly organised by NEOLAiA’s partner universities, the two-day gathering brings together scholars from across the humanities and social sciences to examine plurilingualism as it is lived and negotiated in classrooms, communities, archives, and digital spaces.
Sessions will draw on fields ranging from comparative literature and translation studies to sociolinguistics, memory and migration studies, media and digital humanities, and political philosophy. A particular focus will be placed on perspectives that push back against dominant narratives and give space to voices often left at the margins, as well as on how digital technologies and artificial intelligence are opening new avenues for multilingual storytelling and meaning-making. Presentations will be delivered in English, Spanish, or French.
Attendance is open to the wider academic community, with a tiered fee structure designed to keep the conference accessible: undergraduate students, the unemployed, and NEOLAiA graduate and PhD students attend free of charge, while non-NEOLAiA graduate and PhD students pay €30, NEOLAiA researchers €60, and non-NEOLAiA researchers €80.
