The University of Nicosia Institute for Quality Assurance and Enhancement of Education (IQAEE) is organising its “1st IQAEE International Conference on Quality Assurance and Enhancement of Higher Education” on 26 May 2017. The President of the Board of the Cyprus Agency of Quality Assurance and Accreditation in Higher Education, Professor Mary Ioannidou – Koutsellini, will deliver the Keynote speech, with a number of academics and experts also speaking on related Quality Assurance issues.
The Conference aims at the exchange of views and experiences of Quality Assurance in all areas of Higher Education. Among other aspects, the Conference will examine Quality Assurance in relation to teaching, cross-border and distance learning education, joint degrees, while also addressing the challenges in Quality Assurance as these relate to future generations and academic freedom.
The following speakers will be hosted during the Conference:

- Paula Ranne (European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education – ENQA), George Ubachs (European Association of Distance Teaching Universities – EADTU)
- Ana Guerrero Roldán (TESLA Project, Open University of Catalunya)
- Charalambos Vrasidas, Director of CARDET and Associate Dean of Distance Learning, University of Nicosia
- Denis Berthiaume (University of Applied Sciences and Arts Western, Switzerland)
- David Edgar (Glasgow Caledonian University, Scotland)
- Achilles Emilianides, IQAEE Vice President and Dean of the School of Law, University of Nicosia
The Institute for Quality Assurance and Enhancement of Education (IQAEE) focuses on basic and applied research and aims to provide specialised consultation services, while also organising conferences, seminars and events related to Quality in Higher Education.
The President and Vice President of the Institute are the Rector of the University of Nicosia, Professor Philippos Pouyioutas and the Dean of the School of Law, Professor Achilles Emilianides, respectively; whereas the co-directors of the Institute are Dr Christina Ioannou, Associate Dean of the School of Law and Dr Odysseas Christou, Assistant Professor at the same School.
