Election of Prof. Emilianides in the International Academy of Comparative Law

Professor Achilles C. Emilianides was elected as a Titular Member of the International Academy of Comparative Law (IACL). The IACL was founded at τhe Hague on 13 September 1924. It is a body of scholars, which focuses on the comparative study of different legal systems. It is composed of Titular Members, elected by the Titular Members preceding them. There are approximately 150 Titular Members internationally. Associate Members join the Titular Members to constitute the membership of the IACL.

Professor Emilianides currently serves as the President of the Cyprus Academy of Sciences, Letters, and Arts, and as the Dean of the School of Law of the University of Nicosia, while also being a practicing advocate. Prof. Emilianides is the first Member, either Titular or Associate, to be elected as an IACL Member situated in Cyprus. Prof. Symeon Symeonides, also a Cypriot, had been elected as a Titular Member situated in USA.
