Profile of the Programme
- To develop a foundation in the pharmaceutical sciences in general, as well as in the specific subjects identified, with emphasis on Drug Design and Discovery, Medicinal Chemistry, Drug Delivery and Metabolism, Pharmacokinetics/Pharmacodynamics, Pharmacology, Pharmacognosy, Pharmacovigilance, Drug Regulatory Affairs, Pharmaceutical Analysis, Clinical Pharmacology and Pharmaceutics, Translational Therapeutics, Pharmacogenomics, Toxicology, Pharmacy Practice, etc.
- To enable PhD candidates to conduct independent research and to be able to apply in-depth specialized knowledge in one or more of the above areas
The main objectives of the programme are to:
- Foster an environment that nurtures and stimulates the research interests and the intellectual advancement of students and faculty, including a forum for scientific and professional discussion.
- Emphasize hands-on experience and exposure to cutting-edge technologies to hone practical research skills.

Upon graduation, students would have obtained the highest academic title possible.
The minimum requirement for admission to the doctoral degree programme is a Master’s Degree and a Thesis Proposal.
- Eligible candidates should hold a recognized Master’s degree related to Pharmacy Sciences, or an Integrated degree in Pharmacy and/or a Master’s degree in Chemistry, Biology or in other related fields
- Two recommendation letters at least one from academics preferably from an academic institution where the applicant studied previously.

English Language Proficiency
Students satisfy the English requirements if their first degree was taught in English. Otherwise, they would need to present a minimum TOEFL score of 550 paper-based or 213 computer-based, GCSE “O” Level with minimum “C” or IELTS with a score of 6.5.
Αssessment comprises of the examination of the thesis proposal, the thesis, the presentation of the thesis as a public lecture and the oral examination (viva).
The student must complete 180 ECTS and all programme requirements.
A minimum cumulative grade point average (CPA) of 2.0 is required. Thus, although a ‘D-‘ is a PASS grade, in order to achieve a CPA of 2.0 an average grade of ‘C’ is required.
Upon successful completion of this program, the students should be able to:
- Critically analyze scientific literature, identify knowledge gaps, and propose innovative solutions to real-world pharmaceutical challenges.
- Lead research teams, collaborate across disciplines, and engage in partnerships with industry, academia, and regulatory bodies.
- Synthesize and disseminate complex pharmaceutical research findings, employing advanced communication strategies appropriate for diverse audiences
- Integrate and apply knowledge of the pharmaceutical and biomedical sciences in drug discovery and development processes.
- Conduct research with skill and competence, including hypothesis development, experimental design, data analysis and interpretation.
- Publish independently research papers in peer reviewed journals and deliver presentations at international scientific conferences
- Conform to the codes of conduct or ethics and good practices in their chosen disciplines.
- Work with human subjects and/or special populations and conduct human intervention studies
- Participate in research endeavors consistently by conducting their own research and be able to prepare and submit research proposals to relevant funding agencies.
