Dr. Nicolas Kyriakides Discusses Justice Reform on Δεύτερη Μάτια (Politis Radio)
Dr. Nicolas Kyriakides recently appeared on Δεύτερη Μάτια, broadcast by Politis Radio, to discuss the current state of the Cypriot justice system and the reforms required to enhance its efficiency and effectiveness.
During the interview, Dr. Kyriakides reflected on the progress achieved in recent years, referring to the findings of the latest EU Justice Scoreboard while emphasising that further reforms remain necessary. He highlighted the importance of reducing court delays through greater use of technology, the establishment of an independent Courts Service and the practical reforms required to improve judicial efficiency.
The discussion also examined the effective enforcement of judgments as a key component of an efficient justice system, together with broader issues concerning judicial transparency, accountability and public confidence in legal institutions. Drawing on comparative examples from other jurisdictions, Dr. Kyriakides explained that many of the reforms required to modernise the administration of justice in Cyprus are already well understood, with the principal challenge now being their implementation.
