Commission representative: Important challenges in the justice system of Cyprus
Through targeted and specific actions, the European Commission has been actively involved in addressing the significant operational challenges faced by the Cypriot courts, resulting in case backlogs and extensive delays. In a recent interview with Phileleftheros Media Group, the European Commission spokesperson, Stefan de Keersmaecker, sheds light on the problems, initiatives, and actions implemented since 2017 to modernise and enhance the functioning of the courts and the overall justice system in Cyprus.
