Antonis Polemitis Represents the University of Nicosia at “STEM for All” at The Doers Summit 2026

Antonis Polemitis, Chief Executive Officer of the University of Nicosia and Board Member of TechIsland®, participated at the “STEM for All” programme at The Doers Summit 2026, held on Wednesday, 21 May 2026, at the Kolla Culture Factory in Limassol. Organised by TechIsland® in collaboration with Women in Tech® Cyprus, the full-day programme was hosted on the Pentagon Stage of one of the region’s largest technology gatherings, which brought together more than 10,000 founders, investors, and innovation leaders from over 50 countries.

Mr Polemitis took part as a panellist in the discussion “Cyprus’ Innovation Bet”, moderated by Tanya Romanyukha, General Manager of TechIsland® and Director of Women in Tech® Cyprus. The panel brought together senior representatives from government, academia, and the global innovation ecosystem to examine a defining moment for Cyprus.

At the heart of the discussion were two landmark developments: the Cyprus government’s collaboration with NVIDIA to build a national supercomputer, co-develop research capabilities, and train local AI talent, and the official launch of Plug and Play, the world’s largest startup accelerator, in Cyprus. Set against the backdrop of Cyprus’ tech sector growing 435% in a decade, the fastest in Europe, and now contributing 16% of the country’s GDP, the panel explored what these milestones mean for startups, researchers, academia, and the wider ecosystem as Cyprus moves from promise to measurable reality.

Built around the question of whether humans are evolving alongside increasingly capable technologies, the “STEM for All” programme featured keynote speeches, panel discussions, and fireside chats on artificial intelligence, inclusion, the future of work, and the role of education in ensuring that no one is left behind. Other speakers included the Chief Scientist of the Republic of Cyprus, the Commissioner of Gender Equality, senior officials from the Deputy Ministry of Research, Innovation and Digital Policy, and leaders from global companies such as Google, Tenstorrent, inDrive, and TheSoul Group.
