Engageli: Turning Every Class Recording into an Active Learning Journey

Engageli:
Following its transition from a traditional video conferencing platform to the Engageli virtual classroom, the university found that 58% of student attendance now takes place in the Playback Room. (The Engageli classroom attendance is tracked for both the live class and the playback room.) This reveals that asynchronous learning is no longer a secondary mode of participation but a primary way students engage with course content. As a result, there is a university responsibility to move beyond passive class recordings and provide immersive, interactive asynchronous learning experiences that drive engagement and improve learning outcomes.
Learning shouldn't stop when the live class ends. Engageli extends the classroom by transforming recordings into interactive learning experiences that encourage participation, reinforce key concepts, and provide instructors with meaningful insights into learner engagement. Every recording becomes an opportunity to actively learn, not just watch.
There are several activities that when delivered in the live class provide asynchronous learners the same opportunities to participate. Use these strategies to transform your class recordings:
Strategy 1: Rename recordings in the portal to create a navigable playlist in the playback room.
Strategy 2: Video clips played in the live class render with the same high quality resolution in the playback room. Leverage the video based learning model to provide real-world examples that can be expanded on during class discussion using the podium.

Strategy 3: A poll, quiz, and sprint run in the live class can be responded to in the playback room. This is a great way to conduct low stakes assessment and review the responses in the portal.
Strategy 4: Leverage the Q&A board for attaching files and slide decks since the board persists in the playback room.

Strategy 5: Add additional materials to the playback room to supplement instruction.
