3rd ROBOTEX Pancyprian Robotics Competition

With the University of Nicosia as Educational Innovation Leader

Following the success of the previous events, the Cyprus Computer Society (CCS) is organizing the 3rd Robotex Pancyprian Robotics Competition, which will take place on 29-30 June at the Sports Centre of the University of Cyprus. Robotex Cyprus 2019 is under the auspices of H.E. the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Nicos Anastasiades.

With the University of Cyprus and the Youth Board of Cyprus as co-organizers and Cyta as a Strategic Partner, Robotex Cyprus is returning for a third consecutive year with new challenges, competitions and robotic platforms. Interest in this year’s competition is exceedingly high, with participations in terms of teams, players and robots expected to exceed every expectation.

The 3rd Pancyprian Robotic Competition Robotex is approved by the Ministry of Education and Culture and the Digital Champion and is supported by the Bank of Cyprus as Youth Supporter, the University of Nicosia as Educational Innovation Leader, the Research Promotion Foundation as Gold Sponsor, as well as a host of other organisations.

Robotex Cyprus 2019 is organised on the basis of the regulations of the respective International competition and is addressed to students of all ages (elementary, high school, university), soldiers, and adults interested in robotic technology. Admission is free of charge and the prize for the winning teams includes the right to participate in the Robotex International Competition in Estonia.

Interested individuals are invited to set-up teams with the support of a coach-educator in order to create robots that will compete in the various challenges.

Robotex Challenges, such as SUMO and MAZE Solving, as well as the educational robotics exhibition from primary school children, are expected to attract not only young competitors but also their friends and families who will attend to support them.

A few words re ROBOTEX

The ROBOTEX Pancyprian Robotics Competition was held for the first time on June 2017 and was established in cooperation with the organizers of the respective International Competition, the NPO ROBOTEX Estonia.

Last year’s event had a huge impact, with entries surpassing expectations! Specifically, Robotex Cyprus 2018, held on 23 and 24 June at the University of Cyprus, featured 871 participants; 125 winners at the awards ceremony held in September; and 200 persons involved in the Cyprus mission that travelled to Estonia for Robotex International held in November. The event attracted huge positive publicity in digital, press and social media.

The competition aims to promote the use of robotics in our country, and is an important project that involves various sectors such as technology, education, creativity and youth. ROBOTEX CYPRUS18 Scientific Team involves academics from all public and private Cypriot universities and the Organizing Committee involves professionals and students of the ICT, Robotics and Mechanics sector.

Robotex Cyprus 2019 is organized by the Cyprus Computer Society (CCS) an independent, non for profit, scientific and professional association, which aims to promote and upgrade the ICT sector in Cyprus.

The event is supported by government bodies, professional associations and private businesses.
