Respiratory Medicine Consultant
Dr Evis K. Bagdades has more than 30 years of experience in respiratory medicine. He graduated from the University of Bristol Medical School in 1985 and obtained his MRCP(UK) in 1989. He completed his specialist training in Respiratory Medicine in the United Kingdom, including appointments at the Royal Free Hospital and Hammersmith Hospital in London, before returning to Cyprus.
Dr Bagdades was a Consultant in Respiratory Medicine at Apollonion Private Hospital. Prior to this, he worked at Nicosia General Hospital, where his clinical practice included Respiratory Medicine and HIV/AIDS care. His professional experience encompasses a broad range of respiratory conditions, with particular expertise developed through his extensive work in respiratory medicine and HIV-related pulmonary disease.
He has held several prominent professional and leadership positions. He served as an elected National Representative of the European Respiratory Society from 2012 to 2015 and has been a member of the Board of the Cyprus Thoracic Society since 1996, serving as President from 2004 to 2008. He has also been a member of the Cyprus Intensive Care Society and the Therapeutic Exemption Council of the Cyprus Anti-Doping Committee.
Dr Bagdades has contributed to the medical literature through numerous peer-reviewed publications, particularly in the fields of respiratory medicine, HIV-related disease and pulmonary complications. His research has been published in leading international medical journals, including The Lancet, Thorax, European Respiratory Journal, Journal of Virology and the British Medical Journal. He has also served as President of the Cyprus AIDS Solidarity Movement.
