Migraines

Migraines are quite common and can have a significant negative impact on patients’ lives. Ιf you suffer from migraines, it is important to know what to do to prevent them and how to ease your symptoms.

It always helps to keep a diary to show your personal doctor. If you’re experiencing more than one migraine attack per week, or if your migraines are severe, worsening, or significantly disrupting your lifestyle, you should consult your doctor, as you may need prophylactic (preventive) medication or other advanced treatments.

For example, riboflavin 400mg, which is a type of vitamin B, can help prevent migraines. Looking out for trigger factors is also important.

For acute migraines, the first line of treatment is the use of simple painkillers (i.e. paracetamol) especially NSAIDS such as ibuprofen (Nurofen) early on (if the patient does not suffer from conditions such as asthma, stomach/kidney issues). Triptans can also help ease your pain.
