A record number of 13 medical students representing both the MBBS and the MD programmes and two alumni (currently in F1 training posts in the UK) took part in the Pantheo Congress in Limassol on 21-22 April 2018. The Congress is organised on an annual basis by the Pantheo Eye Center in conjunction with the Midland Ophthalmological Society, UK, and the Cyprus Ophthalmological Society. This year’s theme was Ocular Complication Management.
Medical students competed for the Alistair Fielder Prize in Ophthalmology. The prize for the best oral presentation went to two of our medical students, Victoria Mumford and Rahama John, whose presentation was titled Atypically aggressive ACTH-secreting Pituitary Adenoma: Misdiagnosed as acute angle closure.
The prize for the best poster went to another two of our medical students, Cylene Yang and Christer Sawaya, who together with ophthalmologists Antigoni Koukkouli and Theodoros Potamites presented a poster titled Recurrent painful ophthalmoplegic neuropathy: a case report and review of the literature.
