UNIC Health Student Research Conference 2024

The University of Nicosia Medical School (MS) and the School of Veterinary Medicine (VM), in collaboration with the MS Student Society and the Medical Students Research Society, hosted the UNIC Health Student Research Conference on 14 February 2024. This hybrid event attracted faculty and students from both the MS and VM, showcasing 13 student research projects.

This year, the Conference featured a new section, UNIC Health Student International Achievements, designed to encourage students to engage in international conferences and networking events. Notable presentations included ‘Matakia’, an innovative medical start-up concept developed by MD 6-year students Maria Witkowiak and Linn Persson, which achieved 5th place at the European iDays Finals in Barcelona, Spain. Additionally, MD 6-year student Fathima Asma Anverdeen presented her accomplishments at the Medical Trainees Conference in Newcastle, UK.

An interactive workshop on patient-centred research was also provided, facilitated by Olesia Verstiuk, a fourth-year MD student.

The Conference concluded with an awards ceremony.
