UNIC Department of Architecture wins 2nd Prize
Professor Yiorgos Hadjichristou architectural team awarded in an International Competition
The architectural team of Professor Yiorgos Hadjichristou, from the Department of Architecture, School of Humanities and Social Sciences of the University of Nicosia, has been awarded 2nd Prize in the International Competition for the “Restoration of a listed building in Athenas Street and the construction of a new building for the purposes of housing services of the Ministry of Labour and Social Insurance and the Deputy Ministry of Social Welfare”.
The official ceremony was held on 28 July 2022 in Paphos, Cyprus. This was the second time this year that the architectural team of Yiorgos Hadjichristou wins a 2nd prize following the one in the international competition for the “Master plan and the multiple purpose hall and eateries in the listed school of Ayios Antonios”.
The architectural team included Prof Yiorgos Hadjichristou, Sara Boraei, Styliana Pagdati, Kyriaki Christofidou, our 3rd year students of the Department of Architecture, Thanos Stergiou, Maksim Murashov, Alisar Bshara, Amr Shokeir and Raphaella Nikoletti, as well as our alumni Ellie Balabanidou and Anastasis Balabanides.
