Free Online Info Session – Educating the Future (natural gas) Engineers to Lead the Energy Transition

The talk will present the merits and drawbacks associated with the main types of electricity generation technologies such as natural gas, coal, oil, photovoltaics, wind, hydro and nuclear energy. We will briefly look at emissions and the drive for a full electric transport sector. Major emphasis will be placed on whether a full transition to renewables is possible and at what costs. In closing, we will outline the skills and educational needs that the future generation of energy engineers will need to possess to keep the lights on during a smooth energy transition.

Presenter:

Dr. Constantinos Hadjistassou
Assistant Professor
Department of Engineering

The online info session is free and open to general public (non-specialists).
