Profile
Georgios Mikellides is a Clinical Associate Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Nicosia Medical School.
Dr Mikellides is a fully UK-trained Consultant Psychiatrist currently practising in Cyprus. He holds the MRCPsych (Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists) and has been a Fellow of the Royal College of Psychiatrists since 2022. He also holds a Certificate of Completion of Training CCT (UK) in General and Liaison Psychiatry.
Dr Mikellides has held academic and research appointments in both the UK and Cyprus. He served as an Honorary Clinical Lecturer at Queen Mary University of London and is currently a Clinical Associate Professor at the University of Nicosia Medical School. He is also the Course Lead for the Mental Health module in the Graduate Entry Medicine (MD) Programme. His previous academic roles include serving as an Honorary Research Associate at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience (IoPPN), Maudsley Hospital, King’s College London, and as a Special Scientist at the University of Cyprus.
He holds a PhD from Maastricht University, focusing on Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) and Ketamine Treatments in Psychiatry, and he is a certified rTMS practitioner, trained at both Harvard University and Maastricht University.
Clinically, Dr Mikellides integrates biological and psychological approaches. He has worked in several psychotherapeutic modalities, including Psychodynamic Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Cognitive Analytic Therapy (CAT).
He also holds a Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree from Charles University.
His main research interests include the therapeutic applications of Repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) in medicine and the clinical use of ketamine in psychiatry.
