Mobile Clinic
The Mobile Clinic, launched in 2012, stands out as one of the few mobile clinics operated by a medical school in the world. A key component of the Medical School’s dedication to social responsibility, this student-led initiative operates twice monthly during the academic year, delivering free diagnostic services to remote communities, the elderly, refugees, migrant domestic workers, and the general public.
The clinic has been providing a wide range of services, including blood pressure, glucose, BMI checks, electrocardiograms, eye and STI screenings, orthopaedic examinations, pulmonary and dermatological tests, as well as Pap smear tests. Under the supervision of a team of clinical faculty members, these expeditions serve underprivileged populations and provide medical students with invaluable practical experience.
By engaging directly with communities, students enhance their empathy, cultural sensitivity, and communication skills. Additionally, by participating in these excursions, student volunteers have the chance to explore Cyprus’s countryside and visit points of interest in the areas they serve, which further enriches their educational experience.
