Medical School Professor and Associate Dean for Research appointed Vice-Chair of European Research Initiative
Zoi Dorothea Pana, Professor of Paediatric Epidemiology and Associate Dean for Research at the University of Nicosia Medical School, has been appointed Vice-Chair of 1HEALTH-NET, a newly launched European COST Action, bringing together researchers to advance infectious disease detection, surveillance, prevention, and preparedness, through a multidisciplinary approach.
The four-year initiative, a pan-European One Health network, promotes collaboration and knowledge exchange across Europe, bringing together expertise in human, animal and environmental health.
The network aims to support cross-border research collaboration, translate scientific findings into practical solutions and strengthen Europe’s preparedness for future infectious disease threats.
The Action is chaired by Professor Patryk Kot of the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, UK, with Professor Pana serving as Vice-Chair.
The official kick-off meeting took place in Belgium, where members of the network came together to establish leadership teams, discuss work plans and explore opportunities for future collaboration.
