Research Project Description:

This Call to join the global InTBIR (e International Initiative for Traumatic Brain Injury) collaborative effort would enable the consortium to further develop and subsequently validate the current TBI-Petal (PROSAFE Project) in order to better characterize these patients across Europe, identify centers of excellence in TBI patient management, and contribute to determining the most effective clinical interventions. All TBI-CDEs (Common Data Elements) will be collected, along with other items needed to develop a sensitive prognostic model. This model is essential to be able to infer on the effectiveness of interventions from nonrandomized studies. This is due to the need to adjust for differences in severity between patients receiving or not receiving any specific intervention in everyday practice.

Given the existence of the network and infrastructure and the ongoing interest in TBI, the PROSAFE consortium is in a position to guarantee data collection by 7 countries; data of the highest quality; and data collection beyond the life of the project. These three conditions are essential if the consortium is to contribute to Europe playing a key role in the success of the InTBIR initiative.
