February 2022
On 8 February 2022 the Medical School will launch a special 6-week short course series for healthcare professionals, researchers and students entitled Introductory Applied Biostatistics for Clinical and Public Health Research.

Professor of Epidemiology and Public Health and Head of the Department of Primary Care and Population Health Elena Critselis, who piloted the course last spring, is looking forward to another successful course delivery in February, now open to the public.
Dr Critselis said ‘’In the increasingly data-driven working environment, healthcare professionals have a greater need to utilise and analyse biostatistics in a variety of fields from clinical research, epidemiology, public health to research investigators.’’
The introductory course was created for any practitioner seeking to provide evidence-based solutions for real-world medical and public health challenges that require data analysis. Applied statistics is increasingly important across fields, including research, commercial sector (relating to i.e. health technology and administration, biotechnology and the pharmaceutical industry), non-governmental organizations and governmental public health work.
This will be the first in a series of short Biostatistics courses aiming at equipping professionals with the most up-to-date and relevant skill sets in data analysis.
