Prof Paschalis Paschalis of the University of Nicosia at “21 Islands International Short Film Fest” with “Sunny Side Up”

The animated film “Sunny Side Up” by Professor Paschalis Paschalis, Head of the Department of Design & Multimedia of the University of Nicosia has been selected from over 2,000 submissions for the NYC based “21 Islands International Short Film Fest” (ISFF) 7th edition.

The festival occurred during 1st February 2023-12 February 2023 and featured 51 films. Selected from thousands of multilingual submissions originating in hundreds of qualifying locations worldwide, 21 Islands ISFF finalists competed for both Festival Jury Prizes and Audience Choice Awards.

“Sunny Side Up” is inspired by the observation of the unsettled mind, or according to a metaphor used in Buddhism and Taoism the “monkey mind”, during the period of lockdowns when time for reflection was extensive. The short film takes place in a household kitchen where many of us spent a lot of our free time.

“Sunny Side Up” has also been selected and featured in the International Short Film Festival of Cyprus (ISFFC) and the Animattikon project International Animation Festival, both taking place back in October 2022 at Rialto Theatre in Limassol.
