Michael Petrides is an Associate Lecturer of Galenic and Compounding Pharmacy at the Pharmacy Programme of the University of Nicosia (UNiC). He holds a BSc degree in Pharmacy (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki – 2002) and an MSc in Pharmaceutical Technology, Industrial and Physical Pharmacy and Cosmetic Sciences (Aristotle University of Thessaloniki – 2005).

During his MSc studies he was awarded two scholarships – from the Greek State Scholarships Foundation (“I.K.Y.”) and from the Operational Programme for Education and Initial Vocational Training (O.P.“Education”) – for his top performance in the first year’s courses (2003-2004).

Michael Petrides joined the University of Nicosia in 2014 (Fall semester) as an Associate Lecturer at the Pharmacy Programme and he also acted as the Coordinator of the Pharmacy Technicians Diploma of Intercollege, Nicosia Campus (2015-2017). He also taught “Pharmacy Practice and Medicines” at the Pharmacy Programme of the University of Hertfordshire, offered by the University of Nicosia (Spring 2015 and Spring 2016).

In 2017 the Pharmacy Programme of UNic got awarded with the “Gold in Excellence Award”, during the “Hellas Pharm 2017” Conference (Athens), in the category of “Scientific – Educational Programmes for Pharmacists”. It was awarded for the innovative incorporation of Pharmacy OSCEs (Objective Structured Clinical Examinations) for the first time ever in a Greek-speaking Pharmacy Programme. The above mentioned awarded educational activity was coordinated by Michael Petrides.

Before joining the University of Nicosia, from 2013 to 2014 he worked at the Parenteral Preparation Unit of Limassol’s General Hospital (Cyprus) and served as a Hospital Pharmacist in Limassol’s General Hospital and in Kyperounda’s Rural Hospital/Sanatorium. From 2011 to 2013 he worked in the Formulation R&D Department at Remedica Ltd. (pharmaceutical industry – Cyprus) on highly potent and anticancer drugs. From 2006 to 2011 he was Managing Director in wholesale drugstores in Greece (Thessaloniki, Komotini, Volos) and from 2002 to 2006 he was a Community Pharmacist in Thessaloniki (Greece).

His research interests are focused on Pharmaceutical Technology, Compounding and Dispensing Pharmacy, Pharmacy Practice and Pharmacoepidemiology.
