Mobile Clinic brings free health screenings to Mosfiloti

The Mobile Clinic joined the 8th Annual Mosfilo Festival in Mosfiloti village last Sunday, offering local residents free health screenings and an opportunity to engage with medical students on the importance of health awareness and preventive care.

Accompanied by Dr Danagra Ikossi, Clinical Associate Professor and Director of Postgraduate Medicine at the Medical School, a team of 15 medical students conducted blood pressure and blood glucose measurements, reaching 120 people over the course of the event.

The initiative provided an opportunity to promote health awareness and highlight the importance of regular health checks, while allowing students to gain valuable practical experience in engaging with the public. The visit also offered a taste of local hospitality, with students enjoying traditional Cypriot delicacies at the festival.

‘Being part of the mobile clinic experience has truly been one of the most rewarding and memorable experiences! It gave me the opportunity to apply both my clinical and communication skills outside the classroom, while engaging directly with members of the community and gaining a deeper appreciation for the importance of accessible healthcare. It was also a wonderful opportunity to meet and connect with students from different years, making the experience even more special!’

‘My experience at the Mobile Clinic was great. Beyond checking blood pressure and blood glucose, we experienced genuine appreciation from patients, built real trust with community members, and reassured people who were nervous about their health. We also faced a few hurdles, like language barriers, patients with more complex conditions, and working in a fast-paced environment with limited testing options, which gave us firsthand exposure to real-world healthcare challenges. Overall, it was an invaluable experience, and it felt rewarding to represent UNIC in rural communities across Cyprus and help residents get answers to their basic healthcare questions. On top of that, getting to know students from other years and working together as a team was another highlight.’
