Medical School showcases faculty and student contributions in international scientific publication
A special issue of the International Journal of Molecular Sciences, edited by Dimitrios Kanakis, Professor of Pathology, has been republished by MDPI Books as a volume titled ‘Traumatic Brain Injury/Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy as Cause of Alzheimer’s Disease: Physics and Molecular Biology in the Genesis of Neurodegeneration?’
The publication includes research from multiple institutions and countries. It also features work by fourth-year UNIC medical students Aikaterini Katramadou and Eva Sonja Bender, conducted under the supervision of Prof. Kanakis.
The publication brings together a series of articles examining the relationship between traumatic brain injury (TBI), chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE), and neurodegenerative conditions such as Alzheimer’s disease. The studies approach the topic from different scientific perspectives and methodologies, contributing to ongoing research into the mechanisms underlying neurodegeneration.
