Multicultural Cyprus: The Armenian Community

“Multicultural Cyprus: The Armenian Community” is the first of a series of events that aims to celebrate the historical communities of Cyprus.

Addresses were given by:

Dr. Emilios Solomou, Director of UNESCO Chair, University of Nicosia;

Dr. Michalis Attalides, Rector, University of Nicosia;

Mr. Vartkes Mahdessian, Representative of the Armenian Community in the Cyprus House of Representatives;

Mrs. Katherine Clerides, Cyprus Commissioner for overseas and religious groups affairs;

and Mr. Vartan Tashdjian, Internationally Renowned Cypriot Armenian Artist.

The program included the screening of a video dedicated to the Armenian community and a dance performance. A cocktail followed.

The event was organized by the UNESCO Chair of the University of Nicosia.

Co-organizers were: The Cyprus Center for Intercultural Studies–University of Nicosia and the Friedrich Ebert Stiftung Foundation.
