The Cyprus Mass Media Institute (IMME) and the Department of Communications of the University of Nicosia, in collaboration with the Cyprus Radiotelevision Authority, are organising the 2nd International Conference on “The Right of Freedom of Expression in the Digital Age”.

The Conference will take place at the University of Nicosia on 3 and 4 April. Languages will be Greek and English, with direct translation available during the official part (first day of proceedings).

Media professionals and academics specialising in related fields from 8 countries will participate and present papers on aspects relevant to the Conference theme.

The official part of the conference will take place at the UNESCO Amphitheatre, University of Nicosia, on the first day, Monday, 3 April, at 19:00. Keynote speaker on the day is Dr. Nikos Christodoulides, Government Spokesman, who will expound on his “Thoughts and Reflections on Freedom of Expression in the Digital Age”.

Professor Petros Iosifides, currently at City, University of London, will be the keynote speaker on the second day (Tuesday, 4 April). He will be delivering a timely presentation on “Social Media and Post-Truth Politics”. Prof. Iosifides will also be honoured at the Conference, for his considerable contribution in the area of Communications and Mass Media.

The Conference, which is open to the public, is under the auspices of the President of the House of Representatives, Mr. Demetris Syllouris, who will also declare the official start of proceedings.
