DIGI4ECO

DIGI4ECO aims to unlock and boost new discoveries for management and restoration of marine ecosystems and their biodiversity, which will be key for both their conservation and socio-ecological activities. This will be achieved with a unique combination of demo-mission data and their spatio-temporal modelling/scaling through the merge with historical and sleeping data.

The Institute For the Future is participating in the DIGI4ECO project, funded by the European Commission under the Horizon Europe Framework Programme, as part of the call "Actions for the implementation of the Mission Restore our ocean and waters by 2030 (HORIZON-MISS-2022-OCEAN-01)". This project falls under the category of Innovation Actions, with the full title being "Digital Twin-sustained 4D ecological monitoring of restoration in fishery depleted areas". The consortium comprises 18 partners from 10 countries.

Our main contribution focuses on the technological aspect of the project, particularly on the blockchain components. Our mission is to design, develop, and deploy middleware to manage the data of interest, leveraging the properties of blockchain technology.

The commencement date of DIGI4ECO is March 2024, with a duration of 48 months.
