UNIC research presented at European veterinary forums

June 2025

The School of Veterinary Medicine contributed research findings at two European veterinary conferences in May 2025, focusing on cattle health management and parasitic disease control.

The European Buiatrics Congress 2025 (15-16 May) in Nantes, France, hosted 450 participants from 25 countries. Associate Professor Konstantinos Arsenopoulos delivered an oral announcement, with Professor Elias Papadopoulos from Aristotle University, on their research examining deltamethrin’s effect on dairy cattle under heat stress. The study examined impacts on intramammary infections, milk parameters, and antioxidant activity in Holstein cows.

At the European Veterinary Parasitology College Meeting (22-24 May) in Thessaloniki, 100 specialists discussed methods in parasitic disease control. Arsenopoulos and Papadopoulos presented research on ‘Prevalence and Molecular Identification of Eimeria spp. Infection in Peri-Weaned Dairy Calves’.

Both conferences created opportunities for research collaboration in heat stress, infection control, and parasitological diagnostics.

‘These conferences provided platforms to share our research and establish new partnerships’, said Associate Professor of Cattle & Herd Medicine Arsenopoulos. ‘The applications of our work in heat stress management and parasitic disease control address current needs in veterinary medicine’.
