The School of Veterinary Medicine, in collaboration with the South African Veterinary Association (SAVA), successfully organised a webinar on 4 December 2023 titled “Farm Animal Reproduction and the Role of Veterinary Diagnostics in Swine Farm Units”. This event, aimed at the members of SAVA, also served as part of our initiative to introduce veterinarians worldwide to our Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) programme.

The session attracted over 100 veterinarians. Our Dean, Professor Michael Herrtage, opened the webinar with a brief introduction of UNIC and the School of Veterinary Medicine, setting the stage for the subsequent presentations. The first, titled “Farm Animal Reproduction,” was delivered by Dr Catalina Cabrera, Assistant Professor of Veterinary Reproductive Biology and Animal Breeding. The second presentation, “The Role of Veterinary Diagnostics in Swine Farm Units,” was conducted by Dr Georgios Nicolaou, Clinical Assistant Professor in Veterinary Pathology. Each presentation offered a unique perspective on the critical aspects of veterinary science, focusing on reproductive techniques in farm animals and the pivotal role of diagnostics in managing swine farm units.

The positive reception of the webinar represents an important step in our ongoing efforts to enhance knowledge and practices in veterinary medicine, both within Cyprus and abroad.
