Art, Design and Multimedia Society
The Art, Design & Multimedia Society is the first of its kind to be established within a university in Cyprus. The society was established in 2008. It is affiliated with the Department of Design & Multimedia at the University of Nicosia and is dedicated to enhancing the educational experience of its members, through a variety of social, community and trade related activities.
The society fosters students’ awareness of design in Cyprus and encourages a coherent educational standard for the graphic and multimedia design professions. It provides career and scholarship information to its members and keeps them up to date on local and international competitions, aimed at portfolio enhancement.
Autism Awareness Campaign
The Department of Design & Multimedia, University of Nicosia, in collaboration with the Institute «Mazi» Σύνδεσμος συγγενών και φίλων ατόμων με αυτισμό, took part in the Autism Awareness Campaign that took place, Sunday April 2nd, 2017 as part of the World Autism Awareness Day at the Mall of Cyprus.
It was the ninth annual World Autism Awareness Day. Every year, autism organizations around the world celebrate the day with unique fundraising and awareness-raising events.
As part of the awareness campaign, students from the Department of Design & Multimedia contributed with a series of posters, as part of an exhibition, on raising awareness on Autism on the day.
The purpose of this campaign was to help us better understand autism and to increase awareness so parents of autistic children can come out from the shadows to seek education and therapy.
ONE LOVE. ONE COMMUNITY.
The successful collaboration was an initiative taken from the Mall of Engomi in Nicosia.
The Mall of Engomi thrives to work alongside schools, Universities, organizations and institutions, in supporting the local community. In doing so, this is the second year in collaboration with the University of Nicosia.
Students from the Department of Design & Multimedia, created artwork inspired by the theme of love. The student work, was exhibited and became part of a Valentines Day celebration that took place during the month of February at the Mall of Engomi in Nicosia.
The aim of the exhibition/competition was to create original projects that are related to the theme of love through diverse approaches; for example: love my community, love people who are different, love children, love elderly, love my city, love in general, etc.
Earth Day
Earth Day is an annual event created to celebrate the planet’s environment and raise public awareness on pollution. It is celebrated every year around the world on April 22nd, since 1970. http://www.earthday.org/
Students participated in the exhibition by designing posters, collages, photographs, art installations, or a motion graphics pieces under the theme Earth Day.
The exhibition took place on Friday, 22 April 2016 at Granazi Art Space.

Charity poster exhibition
Design Society students drawing on personal experiences and using the visual language as a tool organized a poster, photography and animation exhibition communicating their concerns and emotions against the economic Crisis.
The exhibition took place on Thursday, April 11, 2013 at Scarabeo, Nicosia.

Diversity Exhibition
In collaboration with the Cyprus Center for Intercultural Studies, the University of Nicosia’s 2nd Diversity Arts Festival, to celebrate the island’s diversity of arts and cultures on 22‐ 27 April 2015.
The goals of the festival were to raise awareness about diversity and respect for difference in the community, promoting thus a culture of peace. The festival took place at Famagusta Gate and Famagusta Trench in Nicosia.
The Art, Design & Multimedia Society participated in the festival with an exhibition of mixed media student work. The funds raised were contributed to Student Affairs to aid students who need support.
Social Networking Exhibition
A generation that doesn’t speak
The Design Society of the University of Nicosia in collaboration with the Department of Design and Multimedia organized a competition and a poster exhibition based on the theme of Social Networking. In this exhibition students chose to communicate their concerns about the use of social media.
Drawing on personal experiences, investigating user behavior online and using the visual language as a tool, they “discussed” important issues such as social isolation, personal data breach and restriction of personal freedom.
The exhibition took place for one week from the 29 February 2012 at Scarabeo in Nicosia.
