
Manos Vlasiou
Manos C. Vlasiou is the Head of Department of Veterinary Medicine, Programme Coordinator and an Assistant Professor at the School of Veterinary Medicine, University of Nicosia.
With over 15 years of experience in education and research, his work focuses on zoonotic diseases, antibiotic resistance, and computer-aided drug discovery for both animal and human health. He is actively involved in One Health initiatives, integrating veterinary medicine with public health and food safety.
His research includes the development of natural antibiotics as safer feed additives to reduce antibiotic use in livestock, as well as the identification of biomarkers for early disease detection in animals. He applies in silico, in vitro, and in vivo methodologies to develop innovative therapeutic solutions for infectious diseases in animals.
Dr Vlasiou has authored more than 40 peer-reviewed publications, book chapters, and a book, making significant contributions to veterinary and biomedical sciences. A frequent speaker at international conferences, he also serves on scientific committees, advancing veterinary research and education through his active involvement in academic and industry collaborations.
