ABOUT THE SPEAKER
Dr Yiannikouris is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Surgery specializing in Large Animal Surgery. He graduated with a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from the University of California – Davis, after completing pre-veterinary studies in Animal Sciences at Oregon State University.
Following graduation, he undertook a highly competitive internship at Rood and Riddle Equine Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky, before being accepted into an equine surgical residency at Washington State University. He completed his residency in 2010, alongside a Master of Science degree, and subsequently worked as a clinical instructor at Washington State University. In 2012, he returned to Cyprus, focusing on equine medicine and surgery, with a particular emphasis on racehorses. Dr Yiannikouris has been actively involved in the development of the University of Nicosia Veterinary School, contributing to the integration of local resources into the teaching of equine medicine and surgery.
