BRIEF SUMMARY

Myxomatous Mitral Valve Disease (MMVD) is the most common heart condition in dogs, with significant implications for their health and quality of life. This lecture will provide a comprehensive overview of MMVD, including its clinical presentation, diagnostic approaches, and therapeutic strategies. Relevant aspects of diagnostic approaches, and disease staging will be discussed to provide a practical understanding of this condition in veterinary practice.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER

Dr Kyriaki Makri is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Diagnostic Skills at the University of Nicosia School of Veterinary Medicine. She earned her bachelor’s degree in veterinary medicine (DVM) from Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, where she also completed her postgraduate studies and obtained an MSc in Companion Animal Medicine – Systems Medicine. After completing her studies, she has practised small animal medicine in private practices, across Greece, the UK and Cyprus.
