The first cohort of UNIC veterinary students had their first outdoor practical session with horses on Thursday, 17 November 2022. Equine specialist Dr Stavros Yiannikouris with the help of Felix, the horse, demonstrated to the students the different horse handling techniques, the various injection sites, and how to perform a clinical examination.
Clinical Assistant Professor Daphne Mavrides said ‘This is one of many practical visits which are part of the first year animal husbandry course. Over the following weeks, veterinary students will visit cattle, pig, sheep and poultry farms where they will learn about day to day operations and get hands on experience as part of the their Day 1 skills curriculum.’
