AILC Summer 2025 NEWSLETTER

AILC Summer 2025 NEWSLETTER

Welcome to the Summer 2025 Newsletter!

As the semester winds down, we’re excited to share the latest developments from the AI Learning Centre (AILC) and the broader UNIC community, with a focus on innovation, research, and practical applications of AI in education.

Focus on our University AI platform, Evolve (previously called Accelerate)—we’re pleased to spotlight our expanding HRDA-certified training programmes. These sessions are currently taking place and are designed to help faculty and staff build essential skills in AI, automation, and digital teaching tools.

A key focus this semester is our cutting-edge agentic research, including a detailed exploration into Reinforcement Fine-Tuning—an area rapidly shaping the next generation of intelligent systems. In addition, we feature hands-on workflow innovation through n8n, with a real-world report on building an automated crypto intelligence briefing, and a comparative review of Zapier, showcasing how no-code automation can enhance both academic and administrative workflows.

Our featured highlight also includes the continued success of the Journal of Teaching English With Technology (TEwT)—an AI-focused academic journal that has now reached the 94th percentile on SCOPUS. This recognition reflects the journal’s growing impact at the intersection of language education and artificial intelligence.

This issue also includes insights into ethical considerations around AI in higher education, new PowerFlow model and UI updates, and key takeaways from Google I/O 2025, and much more.

Whether you’re looking to stay current with AI trends, adopt new tools, or get involved in upcoming training, we hope this newsletter offers the inspiration and information you need to engage with the future of AI at UNIC.
