Welcome to the Spring 2025 Newsletter!
This semester, we are excited to share engaging updates from the AI Learning Centre (AILC).
Our special featured posts include a comprehensive breakdown of leading AI models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, and Grok, all currently accessible via PowerFlow. Additionally, we showcase Engageli’s advanced AI-driven features designed to enhance higher-order teaching, and highlight Dr. Constantinos Adamides’ insightful exploration of AI as an academic co-pilot, aiming to strengthen critical thinking and research skills. We also introduce some of the new Heygen features by showing AI avatars speaking fluently in 13 languages.
In collaboration with the Student Success Centre, Dr. Chris Alexander recently presented on navigating the ethical and innovative dimensions of AI in education.
Further, this newsletter includes first-hand testimonials from faculty and staff who have successfully integrated Accelerate into their work. There are also posts on the evolution and implementation of AI agents, Respondus, and generative AI Art.
AILC continues to offer diverse training opportunities, highlighted by a recent PowerFlow training session with the Distance Learning Unit. Additionally, we feature Issue 3 (2024) of the Journal of Teaching English with Technology, showcasing articles exclusively dedicated to AI.
