Programme Overview
The MSc in Computational Design and Digital Fabrication investigates the relationship between computational tools and architectural design. The programme offers the opportunity to develop computational design skills and experiment with hands-on cutting-edge fabrication, while acquiring analytical and creative problem-solving thinking.
An innovative Distance Learning Structure allows for remote teaching from faculty of the University of Nicosia in Cyprus and the University of Innsbruck in Austria, while two intensive, on-site workshops, at ARC Fab Lab in Nicosia and the Robotic Lab (REXLAB) of the Institute for Experimental Architecture in Innsbruck, provide the opportunity for applying newly acquired knowledge, establishing academia and industry connections and engaging with the global research community.
Why Attend This Programme

Our Labs
ARC F-LAB
ARC F-LAB is operating in a dedicated space at the department of architecture of the University of Nicosia. The Workshop is a University facility containing Digital prototyping equipment, tools and machinery, which individual students or groups of students can use to produce architectural models and prototypes on their request. The use of the technologies is part of the MSc in Computational Design and Digital Fabrication and several other courses within the architectural and interior programs. F-LAB hosts a large open-type laser cutting machine, a 3-Axis CNC milling machine and three FDM 3D printers along a large series of Hand tools and Power Tools. Staff currently consists of three trained operators and two student assistants under the general supervision of a Fabrication Lab Manager and an Academic Coordinator.

REX|LAB
REX|LAB is a space for realizing ideas. The tools are robotic actuators and the language is CAD programs and code. Going from idea to tangible object is always a form of translation, and interpretation. With robotics and software these processes are very flexible and subject to exploration.
As a medium they both claim universality. Six-axis industrial robots are universal manipulators. Code is universal expression of everything calculatable (turing-complete). This paired with their novel nature leaves much to be found, discovered, and realized
