The Business Development Centre is headed by a full time Director and maintains a core team of Consultants and Administrators. It also draws expertise from the broad pool of the University’s faculty, as well as from a number of external associates and collaborators, on a permanent or circumstantial basis.  All associates are highly qualified and experienced, and are accredited by local and international bodies (such as the Cyprus Institute of Technology, the Human Resource Development Authority and IRCA).

Dr Alexandros Antonaras – Director

Dr Alexandros Antonaras holds a BSc (Hons) in Mathematics & Statistics with Management from Brunel University of West London [UK], an MSc in Quality Management and a PhD in Quality & Process Improvement from Cranfield University [UK]. He is an active European Excellence Assessor and Validator for the EFQM Excellence Model. He is a Chartered Quality Professional (CQP) and member of the  Chartered Quality Institute and a Project Management Professional (PMP) and member of the Project Management Institude (PMI). Alexandros is a Founding Member of the Hellenic Institute of Business Ethics [EBEN GR] and Assessor of the EBEN GR Business Ethics Excellence Model, President of the Scholars’ Association of the A.G. Leventis Foundation and member of the Hellenic Management Association.

He has considerable teaching experience in graduate and undergraduate level and has published and presented many research papers in national and international journals and conferences. Alexandros has worked at the Hellenic Postbank Green Institute, INTRALOT SA, Lamda Infrastructure Finance SA, Center for Sustainability and Excellence Ltd., and American College of Greece.  As Management Consultant, Alexandros has been involved in projects for many organisations including amongst others: Piscines Ideales, Cyprus Tourism Organisation (ΚΟΤ), Dell Hellas, EFG Eurobank, AVEZ, ICTS Hellas, Enterprises Shipping & Trading, Hochtief Hellas, Athens Organising Committee for the Olympic Games Athens 2004, Olympic Properties SA, Pegasus Securities.

Professor Demetris Vrontis – Consultant

Professor Demetris Vrontis studied in the United Kingdom and obtained a BSc (Hons) in Business from Manchester Metropolitan University Business School, a PGCE (HE) from Manchester Metropolitan University, an MBA (with Distinction) from the University of Hull and a PhD in International Marketing from Manchester Metropolitan University Business School. Professor Vrontis is a Fellow Member and certified Chartered Marketer of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK) and a Chartered Business and Chartered Marketing Consultant certified by the Chartered Association of Business Administrators (Canada), serving as a consultant and member of Board of Directors to a number of international companies.

Professor Demetris Vrontis is a Professor in Marketing and the Dean of the School of Business at the University of Nicosia in Cyprus. At the same time he holds the Chair for Expo Global Online at the University of Nicosia. Prof. Vrontis is also a Visiting Teaching Faculty for Henley School of Management at the University of Reading in the UK, a Visiting Professor for Vorarlberg University in Austria, a Visiting Research Fellow at Manchester Metropolitan University in the UK, a Visiting Fellow at Leeds Metropolitan University in the UK, a Visiting Faculty of the University of Gloucestershire in the UK, an External Examiner for Nottingham Trent University in the UK and an External Examiner of the Cape Peninsula University of Technology in South Africa.

His prime research interests are on strategic marketing planning, branding, international marketing and marketing communications, areas that he has widely published in over 65 refereed journal articles, contributed chapters and cases in books/edited books and presented papers to conferences on a global basis. Professor Vrontis is also the author of 10 books mainly in the areas of international marketing and marketing planning. Professor Vrontis is the Founding Editor of the EuroMed Journal of Business and an editorial advisory board member in numerous academic and scientific marketing and business related journals. Professor Vrontis is also the Founder and President of the EuroMed Research Business Institute, the Chairman of the EuroMed Academy of Business and the Executive Director of the EuroMed Research Centre aiming to contribute to and share the understanding of different business environments and trends in the region through research, teaching and consulting, and seeking to provide an updated overview of the emerging business practices and stimulate and nourish dialogue in the countries of the region.

Dr Yioula Melanthiou – Consultant

Dr Yioula Melanthiou holds a BA in Business Administration (Marketing) from Cyprus College, an MSc in Marketing from the University of Salford, and a PhD in Marketing from the University of Manchester. Yioula has worked for 6 years in the industry as a Marketing Consultant, Research Account Manager, and Marketing Officer prior to joining the University of Nicosia in 2004. Her academic experience at the University includes teaching several undergraduate marketing courses, and supervision of MBA students for Thesis as well as undergraduate Internships.

In addition to conference presentations and journal publications, scholarly activities include roles such as Associate Editor of the World Journal of Business Management, Editorial Advisory Board Member of the EuroMed Journal of Business, and Member of the Academy of Marketing Science (AMS), the European Marketing Academy (EMAC), the Chartered Institute of Marketing (CIM), the Academy of Marketing (AM), and the EuroMed Academy of Business (EMAB). Moreover, she is Country Director and Member of the Executive Board of the EuroMed Research Business Institute.

Dr Melanthiou has also been an evaluator for the Leonardo da Vinci Mobility Programmes during the 2006, 2007, 2009 and 2010 calls, and is a Part-time Lecturer of Marketing Research for the Post-Graduate Management Diploma Program at the Mediterranean Institute of Management (Cyprus Productivity Centre). Yioula’s primary research interests are in the areas of Green Marketing, Marketing of Higher Education, Marketing through Social Media, and Consumer (Shopping) Behaviour.

Antonis Spanos – Associate Consultant

Antonis Spanos graduated from Aristotelion University of Thessaloniki has postgraduate degrees in Business Administration and in Computer Programming. He is also a graduate of Life Office Management Association. He regularly teaches at EIAS, University of Piraeus (MBA – TQM), University of Crete, Athens University of Economics and Business, and American College of Greece. Antonis is an EFQM Excellence Award Assessor since 1991 and Senior Assessor since 1995. He is member of the Hellenic Management Association’s Quality Committee for the Levels of Excellence program in Greece.

Antonis is a Member of the Hellenic Institute of Business Ethics [EBEN GR] and Assessor of the EBEN GR Business Ethics Excellence Model. He was also member of the Advisory Committee for the development of the National Quality Award and at present he acts as an  Assessor for the National Quality Award organized by the Ministry of Development and Competitiveness. He was a member of the EFQM Benchmarking Committee for HR issues, and quality management consultant to the Hellenic Federation of Enterprises. He has participated as speaker in many conferences and in 1994 was the president for the financial services workshop during the EFQM Forum. Antonis was a founding member of the Lebanese Business Excellence Society and was an Advisor of the Lebanese Government for the development of the National Quality Award framework.

Antonis worked with the management teams of many organisations including HAI, INTERAMERICAN, ASPIS Pronia, LCL, Astir, Groupama Phoenix, MetroLife and many more.  He has extensive experience as Management Consultant and has participated in a number of projects concerning implementation of EFQM excellence model, quality management systems, reengineering of HR management systems, strategic planning and development of Balanced Scorecards, implementation of 5S programs, and many more. Antonis has been involved in more than 100 projects for many national and international organisations including amongst others: Cyprus Telecommunications Authority (CYTA), Bank of Cyprus, Laiki Marfin Bank, Electrical Authority of Cyprus (AHK), LAIKI Finance, Hellenic Bank, COSMOTE, Bosch Siemens Home Appliances Group, Commercial Bank of Greece, Creta Maris Hotels, Minos & Minos Mare Hotels, EXODUS, Vivechrom, Chalkor Group of Companies, Athenian Sea Carriers, Wackenhut, Janssen-Cilag.

Aggeliki Demaratou – Associate Consultant

Aggeliki Demaratou holds a Bachelor in Political Sciences and Public Administration from Pantion University of Athens [Greece] and an MBA in Human Resources from Institut Universitaire Kurt Bosch [Switzerland]. She is certified Quality Systems Manager from the European Organisation for Quality. She is an Assessor for the European Excellence Award and active EFQM Excellence Senior Assessor and Validator for the EFQM Excellence Model. Aggeliki is member of the Hellenic Management Association’s Quality Committee for the Levels of Excellence program in Greece.  She is a Member of the Hellenic Institute of Business Ethics [EBEN GR] and Assessor of the EBEN GR Business Ethics Excellence Model. Aggeliki is an Advisor for the Investors in People (IiP) framework, Assessor for the National Quality Award organized by the Ministry of Development and Competitiveness, and a member of the Hellenic Management Association.

As Management Consultant, Aggeliki participated in a number of projects concerning implementation of quality management systems, reengineering HR management systems, strategic planning and development of Balanced Scorecards, implementation of IiP framework, implementation of 5S programs, and many more.
