Welcome Note

If you have just joined the University and are reading this Student Handbook for the first time, we would like to extend a warm welcome to you from the University of Nicosia.

The University of Nicosia is made up of a dedicated team of professionals and we believe you will find it an exciting and stimulating environment. The University aims to provide its students with a certain standard of service. In return, the University expects its students to assume certain responsibilities. Thus, the quality of the service that students are entitled to expect is balanced with duties placed on you as a student: both are intended to ensure that you gain maximum benefit from your time here with us.

This Handbook is designed to equip you with useful information that you will need during your studies with us. In addition to information about the University, its policies and procedures, you will find other useful information, which we hope, together, will provide you with the resources needed to make your time with us intellectually stimulating, fun and memorable. Your university years present you with the chance to challenge yourself, to meet people from various backgrounds and cultures and to build strong foundations for your future successes.

Please do take the time to read through the Handbook, and particularly the policies outlined, and if you require further clarification on any points please feel free to contact  the relevant Department/Office as indicated. We will be happy to assist you in any way possible.

Needless to say, the University and I, personally, are always here to support you and provide you with the proper environment in which to learn and develop as individuals and future professionals.

We aim to make your “settling-in” period as smooth as possible and we believe that soon you will be making your own presence and contribution felt.  Be assured that you will have our full support in the execution of your duties. Taking this opportunity I would like to wish you every success in your academic career at the University of Nicosia.

Lastly I would like to thank the team that dedicated their time and effort to prepare the Student Handbook, Ms Stella Demetriades, Ms Dina Hassabi, Dr Melpo Iacovidou, Ms Elisa Bosio, Ms Myria Thrassou and Ms Maria Efraim.

A big thank you goes to all members of the staff and faculty of the University of Nicosia as well, for providing us with all information necessary to prepare this Handbook and for all their help and support.

I wish you all a fruitful and successful year!

Dr. Emilios Solomou
