Research by High School Students 2017

Competition Guidelines and Forms 

 

The projects must be conducted by a group of students (no more than five (5) students) under the guidance of up to two (2) teachers. The research teams could choose to submit a research project, which should include:

  • Literature review
  • Research method(s) applied
  • Results
  • Conclusion
     
The assessment criteria are:
 
  • The importance of the research
  • The literature
  • The methodology and analysis
  • The presentation of results, conclusions and references
     

Awards          

 
University Scholarships
 
  • Lyceum or Technical School - First Place: €6000 for each student
  • Lyceum or Technical School - Second Place: €5000 for each student
  • Lyceum or Technical School - Third Place: €4500 for each student
  • Category 1 – Lyceum/Technical School: €4000 for each student
  • Category 2 – Lyceum/Technical School: €3000 for each student
  • Category 3 – Lyceum/Technical School: €2000 for each student

 

  • Gymnasiums – First place: €6000 for each student
  • Gymnasiums – Second place: €5000 for each student
  • Gymnasiums – Third place: €4000 for each student
  • Category 1 – Gymnasium: €3000 for each student
  • Category 2 – Gymnasium: €2000 for each student
  • Category 3 – Gymnasium: €1000 for each student
 
 
NOTE: All scholarships apply for the first year of study only for any degree at the University of Nicosia with the exception of the Medical School.
 

Honorary Awards

Teachers and research teams will be awarded an honorary research certificate by the University of Nicosia.
 

Topics

The research projects may explore issues that fall under any research area including, but not limited to, the social sciences, applied sciences, economics and health.
 

Research Methodology Seminar 

Within the framework of our efforts to promote research in Cyprus, but also more specifically for the purposes of this competition, the University of Nicosia will offer to all interested teachers and students a research methodology seminar. The scientific coordinator of the seminar is the Vice Rector of the University of Nicosia, Prof. Constantinos Phellas and Dr. Constantinos Adamides. The Seminar will take place on December 13th at 11:00am, at the Unesco Amphitheatre, University of Nicosia .

 

Submission Deadline

The deadline for the submission of projects is 20 February 2017

Please note that the submission of hard copies of projects will not be accepted and that all research projects must be sent electronically.
